Experiential Seminar

Working with the Artists on a personal and psychological level, the Seminar explores in great depth:
  • the psychic structure of the Role,
  • the emotions that the Role feels in every scene, as prescribed by the play’s script,
  • the difference between the psychic structure & emotional pattern of the Role and that of the Actor,
  • the pattern of emotions that the Role triggers in the Actor, not only during rehearsals but on-stage as well.

All these parameters become crystal clear by tracking down the psychic structure & emotional pattern of the Role, so that the Actor understands completely what he has to deliver on-stage.

The Seminar comprises of 40 hours (net) of experiential and interactive exercises, spreading over the course of five days.
An interactive Q&A session, between the Participants and the Instructor, builds the necessary theoretical background needed for the experiential part of the Seminar.
This experiential part is the nucleus of the Seminar.
Participants get to perform Roles from actual plays and thus become fully conscious of the different emotions they experience while acting. The feedback they receive enables them to test immediately if their performance delivered the Role’s “proper” emotions, as dictated by the script.

The Seminar is intended for both Actors and Directors.
After the successful completion, Actors will be able to leave their unconscious feelings backstage and bring on stage just the Role, whereas
Directors will have the knowledge to teach and guide the Actors of their plays towards this goal.

Framework
The Seminar, in order for everybody involved to experience properly the Roles, creates the conditions for Theatrical Responsibility, as follows:
  • Attendance to the Seminar is strictly intended for Participant Artists and there can be no audience.
  • The minimum number of participants is 20, the maximum 30.
  • The Seminar will be done in both the language of the Participants as well as that of the Instructor.
  • Participants will acquire official Certificate.
  • The Participants should be made aware from the very beginning, that any visual or audio recording of the Seminar is strictly prohibited, because it restrains them from exploring deep and personal territories during classes.
  • Participants are strictly forbidden to disclose to anyone outside the Seminar, personal information and data concerning other fellow Participants that they were made aware of during the classes.

Before the beginning of the Seminar, each Participant must choose a Role he can relate to in depth. Four Participants undertake each Role, in order to create cooperation subgroups during the Seminar.
The Role can be from any theatrical play (not from a movie) irrespective of gender, race and age, but it cannot be the Role of a God, Demi-God or Hero.
The Gods are manifestations of the Archetypes, so they don’t bear a Psyche. This means that they convey in a stout and solid manner, the Vibration of the Divine Law that they express (see: The Gods on ancient Greek tragedy).
For the Roles of Gods, Demi-Gods and Heroes, there will be a specific class.

Each Participant, before the beginning of the Seminar, must study thoroughly the play he has chosen and:
  1. Write down all the information found on the play (even on the scenes that the Role does not appear) about the Role’s life and the pattern of emotions he experiences. It is crucial that the Participant has full knowledge of the Role’s journey throughout the play.
  2. Create a summary of the play.
  3. Have with him the script of the play, in order to answer any question concerning the play’s plot.
Throughout the Seminar, each Participant must take notes in order to create the psychic structure and the emotional pattern of the Role, which he will consult during the experiential classes.
